What is comprehensive cleft care?

One or two surgeries are not enough to repair all effects of cleft, although they are the indispensable first step. To enable a cleft child to lead a fully normal life free of the problems caused by an untreated cleft, a comprehensive approach is needed, one which includes nutrition, psychological counselling, dentistry, orthodontics, speech therapy, and ENT in addition to the vital surgical interventions. Treatments can be needed from birth until the age of 20 or even later. We call this approach CCC (Comprehensive Cleft Care).

Through The Cleft Group we would like to raise urgently needed additional donations for our existing projects where the CCC concept is already beginning take shape. In Bangladesh, Bolivia, India, Pakistan, Peru and Vietnam established, qualified teams are awaiting your support. All measures are overseen by Deutsche Cleft Kinderhilfe e.V., a German NGO with almost two decades of experience in providing high-quality cleft treatment to patients in need across the globe. Performance and quality of operations and other services and the use of funds are monitored through DCKH's patient database, ensuring that our donors can be sure that their money was spent properly and also that our patients can be sure to receive only the best possible treatment.
